... versions right now. What OS? What client version Have you downloaded any new updates (OS/Driver) Have you checked if you didn't catch some sort of malware? If it is fahclient v7, then your computer might be infected If it is v8, is it the latest build,and again, what OS?

... become readonly or is locked by another process for some reason. Reinstalling might fix the first, candidates for the second can include anti-malware software scanning the F@h client data directory or a second FAHClient process running on your system.

... files left in the directory. There have been examples of that in the past, usually caused by file ownership issues, or that being changed by anti-malware scans, or the files being held open by another process than FAHClient.

I don't use a VPN
I am using Skybroadband.com
And I have completed numerous scans using the windows malicious software tool, Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, spybot, and nothing is popping up as suspicious.

... Also using UniFi Networks UDM SE Pro… 5Gbs down/up symmetrical Fiber and 1.2Gbs/45Mbs Cable asymmetrical as a failover. UDM SE Pro is blocking all Malware and a few countries like China, Iran, and Russia. Everything else working great.

I don’t think DLC normally includes executable code. It’s the kind of thing malware would do.
The app would have to be packaged with all cores included. New cores would require a new app release and approval.

... out cryptocurrency for folding, even if it's not officially supported by Folding at Home, there is a risk that so-called "cryptojacking" malware might fold for one of the crypto teams. It's perhaps not the most profitable way for malware creators to make money, but it is a non-zero risk.

Your download error is from a different cause. Most likely you have a firewall or anti-malware app blocking the download. Many default to blocking downloads over HTTP when not done through a known web browser such as Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and so on. If that is the ...

... F@h needs none of those to connect. F@h connects to the servers using HTTP over ports 80 and 8080. The default action of some firewalls and anti-malware is to block data transfer over those ports if the software using them is not a "known" browser such as Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, ...

Time to go back to your firewall or other anti-malware software. The "short response" error messages are indicating a different type of blocking, that based on the app using HTTP to transfer data. Some firewalls/antimalware by default ...
