Re: Found an old machine and want to fold with it
If you have the funds and can justify the power bills, using old machines but with newish gpus is a highly effective way to fold. For example, I resurrected an old motherboard with a 2600K (2010!) and with a GTX970 and Linux Mint20 it's hitting well over 600K ppd.

I had this too at 00:40 GMT but worked fine on a re-start this morning.

Re: CUDA Update to FAHCore_22
800K for 1080 Ti is low. On OpenCL, 1080 Ti is between 1.3 to 1.6 Million. On CUDA, it hovers between 2.3 to 2.6 Million I think he's referring to the performance on the 1080FE not the TI. For reference, with the 149xx units my 1070's were getting over 1.2m, have just dropped back with these new 17...

Re: GPUs not detected initially
It sounds almost as if your configuration is not being saved. We would really need to see the config.xml or the beginnings of a new logfile (after boot).

Re: Found an old machine and want to fold with it
If you're booting off a physical disk rather than an SSD, it may take a while to start up. You can disable a lot of the desktop stuff if it's purely for folding but the best answer is to keep it running 24/7

Re: CUDA Update
And in the meanwhile, I am not going to be running GPU jobs on my system that is currently using Windows 7.0 SP1, as the drivers are the latest that can be installed for that OS/GPU combo (v452.06)--and they are crashing with the new Gromacs core. I'll be putting Fedora on a fresh HD, and getting m...

Re: CUDA Update
I'm seeing massively better CUDA performance on Linux than Windows10. And I'm meaning up to 40% on identical cards.

Re: New RTX3xxx cards
A BIOS update can only reduce the GPU Boost settings which can just as easily be achieved by underclocking with Afterburner

Re: Recommendations on used cards for Folding
GTX1070s can get to 1m - the 1070ti I had didn't outperform the standard 1070s by much so I sold it. I've also got a TitanX that easily goes over 1m but is a tad power-hungry. The new CUDA FAH core is taking my 1070s up to 1.5m at times although that's a short term benefit I expect while the kinks a...

As some who's been running this project for well over a decade, it pleases me that I still have absolutely no idea what any of the above means

Re: New RTX3xxx cards
Most of the tests that have been done are related to games performance. If you look for tests related to compute - blender, vray, optix - the numbers are much higher.
