Re: notfred's folding cd running SMP under VMPlayer
I was looking at the boot log on a notfred box I have (running native not VM'd) and I see the clock does use HPET. I then looked at a VMWare setup and I don't see it using HPET. Something else to try is adding: tools.syncTime = true to the fold64.vmx file Open the .vmx file with wordpad (not notepad...

Re: notfred's folding cd running SMP under VMPlayer
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I've done a lot of reading, I have the AMD-specific "features" disabled, and I flashed my bios. Still no joy. Given the 8% increase I'm enjoying on the very similar, just slightly lesser machine with it all working, I'm still bound and determined. I'm go...

Re: notfred's folding cd running SMP under VMPlayer
I don't know if it's the VMWare/nf combo as nf is built on the 2.6.22 kernel which shouldn't have the issue as the issue was corrected in the 2.6.18 kernel. nf also disables ntpd when it detects a VM environment. I would check AMD's Powernow and CoolnQuiet type features and disable them if they are ...

Re: FahSpy (monitoring tool)
I've used FahSpy for awhile and really like it. I like the amount of information that can be viewed for all monitored clients simultaneously. I have one question and one request. Often a client shows status as "ready to send" and is highlighted in red text. This happens when there is nothi...

Re: FahMon (multi-platform app to monitor various F@h clients)
I apologize if this has already been covered; I did search Help and the forum before posting. FahMon is reporting a Linux SMP unit that is folding under VMWare on a Windows machine as "hung." The unit is not hung, and FahMon even shows the updated percentage progress while showing the ETA...

Re: Sudden problem with work unit. I want to know why
Did you quit the client or did it shutdown by its self?
As far as not getting a new WU the server you are being assigned to is under heavy load right now. You will get a new WU might just take a few more attempts.

Re: notfred's custom folding CD
is there a way to in effect tell a running notfred machine "-oneunit"?, i.e., if I need to take the machine down for a few days, how do I finish the current WU & not start a new one? There are a bunch of variables that effect the best or possible way to achieve what you are trying to ...

Re: notfred's custom folding CD
Thought I'd mention that there is a new release of the Folding CD... This is actually the second "new" one since the last post here. HANG CHECK HAS BEEN FIXED if you haven't already upgraded. http://reilly.homeip.net/folding/cd.html 14 March 08: Upgrade to new kernel version (support more ...

Re: 2653...1900ppd......3064...1300ppd...????
Before I get jumped on for my previous post, there could, just as likely, be some factor in the dual 5160 poster's hardware configuration to cause his machine to outperform the benchmark machine on p2653. However, on a Q6600 @ 3.33 GHz running Linux SMP, the 306x series produce about 1000 ppd less ...

Re: notfred's custom folding CD
http://reilly.homeip.net/folding/cd.html It is nice and dandy way to get the FAH client running, but if it does contain the FAH client executable(s) on it then it is violating the FAH EULA http://folding.stanford.edu/English/License : Distribution of this software is prohibited. It may only be obta...

Re: notfred's custom folding CD
Just to let everyone know notfred needs to do update the folding CD to work with beta2. So don't stop your machines if you don't have to or you won't be able to fold until the rebuild is released. Here's an excerpt from the TR forums regarding the issue: Q1: When i use boot cd atm, will it get the b...

Re: alancabler OK?
Utility bills keep me from folding on all my lesser pcs, as well. How did technology get cheaper than electricity? :( I've hit the vicious cycle point with the heat from the 20+ cores @ home, the Air Conditioner is killing me. and it's getting hard to explain why these "old" PC's keep mov...

Re: alancabler OK?
Howdy folks, I've just been extremely busy... spending spare time pickin' pecans (or something) to help buy a new rig 'cause my teammate Lgringo is about to run over me, with a whole herd right on his heels. I did lose my fastest machine during the big Oklahoma ice-storm power surges in December, b...
