Re: Trying to Understand F@H
Well, a lot of new terminology so bear with me on these questions, too. As to question 4 I was looking at the point summary website and the Credits column (I am not able to post the link in messages here, yet). I did one WU last night and received 1920 points (at least that's what my summary shows)...

Re: Trying to Understand F@H
I understand the general idea behind the distributed computing concept. I just want to clear-up some NOOb issues on F@H. If I am wrong or otherwise misstate something please let me know. 1. A work unit (WU) is a specific "data block" for a project. Each project has several WUs. 2. When pr...

Re: Noob hardware advice, please
Hey Nathan, Thanks for the input. The Phenom is actually my Son-in Law's computer. I haven't been successful in convincing him of the worthiness of this Project. I have enough trouble persuading him not to turn of the GPU Client I put on there as well as convincing him that a OCd 9800GT was better ...

Re: Noob hardware advice, please
I was sucessful in geting VMWare to run on #7. #6 doesn't support vitrtualization so I think I'll add 2 9800GTs to that box with that being about as much as it will handle. Then find more ram for #2 before I try VMWare on it. Another question, if after I am done with all of this and still want more...

Re: Noob hardware advice, please
Now that you have #7 maxed out my suggestion would be to get that phenom (#6) up to full speed. Now that you have installed notfred on your laptop i would get that installed on the phenom, with the latest vmware player you can use all 4 cores on that cpu and get about 4000ppd.

Re: Project: 2665 (Run 0, Clone 347, Gen 129)
Its not the server - your client has stopped functioning for some reason and cannot finish the WU My suggestion would be: Stop/kill the client Navigate to the folder where the smp client is installed. Delete the following files:- queue.* unitinfo.* Delete the work directory Restart the SMP client an...

Re: Daily stats update timed 15:00
Does that mean then that for some reason the 15.00 update takes longer to process than is normal??

Re: Daily stats update timed 15:00
I use both sites and both of them read a zero point update once a day as does hardfolding.com. Surely this means that the stats are taking too long to process and thus the sites can't process them in time?? FWIW its the 15.00 UTC update that seems to go awry

Re: Have great new system. How can I contribute?
Hi I would suggest 2 copies of the GPU client for your graphics card and for your CPU either a windows SMP client or run VM machines on your main o/s and run linux smp clients within those. Your GTX 295 should be good for about 13k ponts per day and another 3-8k on your CPU depending on the cleints ...

Re: 171.67.108.25 / 171.67.108.11
Bruce Thanks for the clarification - the reason why i reflagged it was because my clients had been trying to transmit on and off for 24 hours with limited success. I think its still worth us letting you know if there are problems as its easier to spend 30 seconds looking when we report there may be ...

Re: 171.67.108.25 / 171.67.108.11
Looks like there may be a problem here - 108.11 is in reject mode and 108.25 is taking ages to collect wu's. I am getting work OK so its not holding up the science from that end but i am getting worried about the back log on my GPU's waiting to transmit their WU's I've tried the usual of restartign ...

Re: 171.65.103.100 ports 80 and 8080 down
Hi Noob here so i can't post a link but on Vijays blog it says that they have had major problems over the last day or so with the gpu servers. 3 went down and only 2 are back up and under heavy load. They are also rolling out the new server code so are stretched thin anyways. hope this helps shed so...
