Without the logs there is a limited amount we can do to help you troubleshoot your installation. You also did not answer the teh other question about the working directory. i always disable logs, set power to full, manually set cpu core number to 2. in windows 7, this setting showed 100% usage. client version was and is latest beta. 50% usage in windows 10 clean installation from original iso.

fresh windows 10 installation
installed folding@home beta version. set cpu manually to 2, same number as physical core, no hyperthreading.full power. cpu usage is stuck at 50%. no logs. in windows 7, cpu usage was 100% at this setting.

can you quantify the gain against the pain ? Have you done some comparison ? ...the gain is significant due to not having background services and processes being reduced to bare minimum.. You do know that you can turn stuff off, right? manual override of around 150 services and 3 background process...

Have you done some comparison ? i see no pain in booting in safemode. the gain is significant due to not having background services and processes being reduced to bare minimum. i only noticed with my eyes that work units take some hours longer to complet...

i run in safe mode, set checkpoint timer to 30 minutes to get the most out of cpu. anyone else doing anything to get the most? ideas, thoughts.

calculation of work unit difficulty
has there been any attempt at reliably calculating the changes in difficulty for the work units over the years? the power level of the network increased from some 15 to 100 between 2012 and present, how much more difficult has the work units become?
