Re: Ryzen 5700G GPU

According to Techpowerup.com, the integrated GPU lacks any special drivers. https://www.techpowerup.com/280879/amd- ... and-tested. That suggests that FAH will not recognize it as a gpu. That's the same thing reported in the first post in this topic. That's in conflict with the statement "GPU-Z...

Re: Configuring integrated GPU for folding (Laptop)

Some laptops have Optimus; Other computers have both an integrated GPU and a discrete GPU (mostly desktops). The former switch between the iGPU and the dGPU depending on the demand for graphics processing: You only use the Intel or AMD integrated GPU when power can be saved without sacrificing perfo...

I don't know how to find your paper from "doi: 10.5281/zenodo.4922594" Google gives me a variety of options, none of which are precise.

Presumably this is the device that 1f55 points to. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/g ... 2060.c3310

I've added it at your request and moved the thread to the right forum.

Re: update_core on all devices

If you have multiple devices all trying to update the core, you'll have data conflicts.

Pause FAH. Select on GPU and unpause only it. Does the update work?

When it finishes you can unpause any GPU that's using the same FAHCore. If necessary, allow the download of a second core before proceeding.

Re: Multiple GPU's, Diminishing Returns

I think the critical information here is that 1x risers are fine for mining but certainly will choke FAH performance on those more powerful GPUs.

Re: Quadro 4000

It would be a waste of money to buy new Quadro cards for FAH. You're paying extra for capabilities that are not critical for FAH. (memory parity, faster FP64 calculations, etc.) On the used marked, it's hard to tell. I'd look for the price of an comparable GeForce card and allow a small price penalt...

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

The 730 is the slowest nVidia GPU that FAH can use. Each one operates on a separate assignment so I wouldn't expect a significant change in throughput unless it was choked by the CPU. Your primary limitation in in your GPU's speed. The GT730 comes in two flavors GF108 (Fermi) and GK208 (Kepler), Eve...

F@H will be gain more points with more cores. ... in theory, and often in practice. Analysis of a protein (or any other scientific calculation) for a given protein has certain percentage of the calculation that can be performed in parallel and a portion that must be performed serially. The parallel...

Re: probability of GPU being phased out

this question assumes all GPUs are made by NVidia, not by other folks. At the present time, FAH supports AMD and is preparing to support Intel. I'm comfortable with that assumption, but your prossing is incomplete and may (or may not) be expanded at a future date. So you're asking me to predict what...

When FAHClient starts, it goes through a detection process to determine what hardware you have before it sets up the "slots" that download WUs that will be associated with specific hardware it what is called "slots" (Should have used a different word, since PCs have slots that me...

Re: No GPU Intel UHD GRAPHICS 620

Intel GPUs are very, very gradually moving from unsupported to supported. First, it has to be recognized as supported by GPUs.txt. This only starts at level 7 going upward. Second, it must have a recent driver AND the OpenCL RunTime code that supports it. Third, the gpu-beta flag is currently requir...

Re: What's the benefit of joining a team?

There's also the option of starting your own team. Yes. Some people create one to keep track of the points from all their active systems, though then there's no camaraderie benefit. All my systems are part of my team membership and I can also see how their performance compares to others on my choic...

Re: Dropping old work units that are past expiration date

When a WU is completed, other copies may have been issued which really don't need to be completed, but FAH has no way to notify the FAHClient on which that duplicate has been enqueue nor does the server have the capability to inform FAHClient of those facts. Why was your copy paused so long? As @ ae...

The client is supposed to dump the local copy of a completed WU when it is uploaded. If you AV program blocks the confirming AK that the WU has been uploaded, the client will continue to try to upload the WU and the WU will not be deleted promptly because the confirmation that the WU was uploaded ha...
