Re: Folding Power Slider - affecting ALL slots? If so, why?
If you want a complex method which will give you access to all of the possibilities, you'll need to set the slider to FULL and then use FAHControl to build a custom configuration that maximizes performance on your exact hardware while also managing potential problems of screen lag and potential pro...

Folding Power Slider - affecting ALL slots? If so, why?
It seems as if the slider affects all the slots, not just the one selected - is my impression wrong, or is that intended to be so? In that case - how can I set the CPU slot to "Light" and leave the GPU at "full"? I've got two GPUs, so one can continue at full power without much d...

Re: GPU stuck at waiting for idle?
AFAIK the power slider needs to be on "full" for the GPU to work.

Re: Adding CPU cores to a CPU slot - restart of WU?
I don't think there was any fault with the FAH cores, only my lack of patience... 2) Which CPU WU were you running. Some of the older CPU assignments would only use one core so increasing the number of cores wouldn't change anything until that WU was finished. From the log: 15:36:34:WU01:FS02:0xa4:P...

Re: Adding CPU cores to a CPU slot - restart of WU?
Well, in the end I decided to dump that WU and remove the CPU slot. Sorry. Adding more cores was no problem, the WU continued from the last checkpoint. However, there was no change in time or CPU usage. When I tried to restart the client, a GPU WU got corrupted and dumped :-( I'll continue to fold o...

Adding CPU cores to a CPU slot - restart of WU?
I added a CPU slot today, thinking I'll let FAH have one or two cores, keeping the rest for the GPUs and whatever. However, the ETA is now about 5 days - with a timeout deadline of about 6 days. If I edited the CPU slot to add another core or two, would that speed things up and/or would it download ...

Re: GPU Use => HDD activity?
Sounds to me like the fan on teh gpu is acting up, is anything catching the blades? I didn't see anything, I'll have to open the case to make sure - strangly it's only when the GPU is stressed, so it doesn't occur in idle. Perhaps the fans are dirty and it only starts to be a problem when they have...

Re: GPU Use => HDD activity?
Hmm. Are you sure you didn't install F@h to the other HDD by accident? Task Manager should have a System Monitor button to see HDD activity. Yes, I looked again - the only drives accessed (according to the system monitor) are C and I, which are SSD and Ramdisk. All system data/programs are on the S...

GPU Use => HDD activity?
Not sure where to post it, as it doesn't only concern the new 7.3 client, but it doesn't happen outside of FAH. When the GPU client runs, there is a noise that I'd identify as HDD activity - which is weird because the task manager doesn't say anything about it, and the primary HDD is an SSD anyway -...

GPU: Stream Processors - Bits, Number - what is important?
(I wasn't sure which forum is best suited, so I chose GD. Feel free to move.) I've tried to find an answer through searching the forum, but the bits I found didn't really answer my questions, no doubt because I'm not completely up-to-date with regard to how GPUs actually work. I understand that AMD ...

Re: Discussion: what is holding F@h back?
There's a lot of variation in the project descriptions. I wish they were more consistent. Realize that there's a lot of scientists using F@h and some are better than others at converting everything to laymen terms. Well, all I see is project 11293 and recently 11292 :-) I did look the terms up on W...

Re: Discussion: what is holding F@h back?
I'm trying to keep it short. I agree with almost all in this thread. Repetition for emphasis: V7 client is an improvement, but it can go further. The client must be able to help with problems. Example: GPU outdated, not supported anymore. Client doesn't know it, just reports errors. User is confused...

171.67.108.201 // http://assign-gpu.stanford.edu/ - no WUs?
Apparently this assignment server can't give my client any WUs. Why is that? Is the GPU outdated already? Anything I can do to get WUs? (I'm giving Boinc the GPU for now, shouldn't go to waste :-)) Here's the log in any case: *********************** Log Started 2012-11-07T16:27:42Z *****************...

Re: Overall status of a project? 11293, how many WUs left?
Run a 3rd party app like HFM to track your WUs. Was worth a shot. Didn't really work. I thought I got it working (apparently there is no configuration help whatsoever for that program), but it stopped working when the WU changed. Oh well, not that important anyway. [edit]Since my GPU is always fold...

Re: Overall status of a project? 11293, how many WUs left?
Hm. Seems to make sense what you're saying. Still feels somewhat empty to only know "my GPU is folding project 11293" and not even knowing how many WUs it has done for this project. Perhaps a list of finished Runs/Trajectories? Would be better than nothing, IMO. I'm not entirely sure why, ...
