Re: The system folds on CPU, but not on Nvidia GPU
can you help me, I have a Quadro 2000 and it is detected but not folding, I am using Win 10 The Quadro 2000 is too old to use for folding. It is based on Nvidia's Fermi GPU chips, they are no longer supported. Oldest Nvidia GPUs supported are based on Kepler chips and only use OpenCL for processing...

Re: Max CPU threads for "Full power"
Not really. However you can explicitly set the number of CPU threads within FAHControl, that number overrides the value that the slider would otherwise set. That applies to the v7 client. The web based control for the public beta v8 client sets the number within the machine settings.

Re: Why Fold? AI solves it.
Not all projects have moved to AI, only some. So their statement was incorrect from the start, probably based on a misunderstanding of what AI can do and what distributed computing projects can use it for. In the case of folding, AI may be useful in finding folded states. But what it won't show are ...

Re: Nvidia GTX460 not supported? Too slow. [Resolved]
In addition to not supporting OpenCL 1.2 the GTX 460 also does not support a high enough version of Nvidia's CUDA. The oldest Nvidia GPUs that can be used for folding are those based on the Kepler microarchitecture introduced on many of the GT(X) 600 series cards. Some of the low end 600 and 700 ser...

Re: Is there a new version of FAH for 2024?
As mentioned, the client does not get updated often, and an older version usually still works well. The parts that do the work, the folding cores, do get updated more often. The client will download new cores as needed for the WUs. As for automatic updates to the client that was not implemented base...

Re: FahCore 23 broken on Fedora 39
At least the Quad Core Q9xxx processors use the same LGA 775 socket as the Q6600, an upgrade there should be possible for under $50.

Re: How is the 'Work Queue' getting filled?
Yes. I don't know if it should be considered a bug or a feature, but usually the Finish status setting will complete any WUs queued for a folding slot and then stop. However it does keep the slot from downloading additional WUs until the next time the slot is unpaused. It has been too long since I d...

Re: How is the 'Work Queue' getting filled?
By default the v7 client downloads a WU when a current WU reaches 99% completion. That can be configured to a value between 90% and 100%. There are some corner error conditions that can result in a WU being downloaded otherwise with a WU being processed by the slot at less than 90% done. In this cas...

Re: Inconsitency on F@h stats pages
At one time an older version of the stats page stated personal stats were ranked excluding "Anonymous" and something else I don't recall. Just Anonymous will account for part of the difference as there are 6 different entries for various teams including the default team 0. The other stats ...

Re: Additional diseases FAH
Some research has gone into looking for "pockets" where drugs potentially could attach and prevent misfolding or keep a virus from properly folding and penetrating a cell wall. An example of the second would be research into the COVID "spike". As for possible, it depends on a res...

Re: Android and iOS app version
This most likely will not happen. They did run an app provided through SONY for their Android phones a few years ago, that ended when SONY stopped support. The code was made open source and the people running F@h said at the time they would consider looking at possibly supporting a client in the fut...

Re: Apple Silicon ARM chips - M3 family support status
The v8 Public Beta fully supports Apple Silicon, both the client and CPU folding cores have been compiled o use the Apple native machine code. The rest of the features only would possibly be useful for the GPU folding. But GPU folding is not supported on any macOS system at this point. How well the ...

Re: getting a passskey replacement
No, it does not have to be your username as I stated above. That has never been a requirement, and people keep putting that it is a requirement are repeating a bit of misinformation someone posted years ago. There is no registry that ties usernames and passkeys beyond the database that ensures there...
