Re: F@H Causing Black Screen Crash on GPU Activation

I can run it now, which is good. Tried leaving it on overnight and woke up to my monitor not recognizing that it was plugged into the GPU and having to hard reset the pc. Something must've happened overnight, but no idea. Did you try with Bus at value 1 or 12? Did you get any points? If you did the...

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

Thanks for the support!. We are all limited by what we know about your system, as you see, we all find out more about your 'ecosystem' as we both ask questions of each other. I find I understand multiple Windows boxes with GPUs in each, you may find a method that suits what you want to use to fold....

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

Having the cards under load, run GPU-Z and on the Bus interface field look for the value after the @. For example, my RTX 3060 reads: PCIE x16 4.0 @ x16 3.0 . That means that my card can run at PCIE x16 4.0 but currently runs at x16 3.0(due to my motherboard). Like wise you can check your speeds.

Re: F@H Causing Black Screen Crash on GPU Activation

Some people have multiple GPUs in their system. When a new WU is downloaded, FAHClient must request one that works for a particular GPU (in case they're different) and the downloaded WU must be associated with the particular GPU that requested it. The two notations pci-slot 0 and pci-bus 1 are FAHC...

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

Any 8 slot motherboard, it would seem to me, that it would be a mining one, thus, running into the same issue. Even x99 boards with 40 lane cpus have 4x PCIe slots running at PCIe 3.0 x8 speeds each.

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

An RX 480 runs, for all intents and purposes, unsaturated on an PCIe 3.0 x8 connection, but could benefit ever so slightly from a x16 connection. In perspective, a PCIe 2.0 x1 connection translates to PCIe 3.0 x0.5 speeds, speeds that are unbelievably low for a GPU.

Re: F@H Causing Black Screen Crash on GPU Activation

For starters, try running with a lower boost clock. The reference design uses a boost clock of 1582 and a base clock of 1480. Besides that, consider using a fan profile that has a minimum speed greater than 0. I would suggest you power cap the card to the minimum power limit possible and see if tha...

Re: Does the CPU affect the speed of the GPU?

That is an old ooooold CPU. Apart from the 1 thread per GPU, i would guess that a motherboard with 8 pci-e splots must be a mining one, thus only limited to 1 lane per slot?

Did you try DDUing the drivers before re installing the lastest set from AMD? Are you running any overclock/undervolt settings?

Re: Hash Algorithm Limiter on RTX 3xxx series cards

I do not think that there was ever an issue of the hash limiter affecting F@h. The only thing they limit is ETH Hash, other cryptos are unaffected by the drivers. As anecdotal evidence, take my card, still using a driver prior to the BETA set that reverted the limit. My card is running power capped ...

Re: RTX 3070

It is not officially supported. There has been talk about doing something like that, or at least match GPUs to projects in a more fine-grained way, but there's no timeline for when that might happen. If you have a professional GPU that supports multiple users on the same GPU, you might be able to m...

As far as I'm aware, you cant run 2 WUs at the same time on the same GPU. Somebody, correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: AMD or Nvidia

Personally, on one hand, I traded my RX 5700 XT for a brand new RTX 3060 since I didn't intend to mine crypto [due to noise concerns] and saw a decrease in avg Power Draw and an increase in PPD. On the other hand, I traded my RX 480 for a GTX 970 and while I saw an 25% increase [on avg] in PPD, the ...
