Hey,

After some issues with my Computer i had to reinstall Windows and now Folding @ Home doesn´t find my GPU. I also installed f@h new, but nothing happend.
Maybe anyone can help me?

Version 7.6.9 has a bug where it doesn't download the GPUs.txt file and set up a GPU slot. Check in this directory to see if there is a GPUs.txt file - CWD: C:\Users\phili\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient. If one is not there, you can download a copy from here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt, and place it in that directory. Then restart the client. You will probably need to add the GPU slot manually.

There is also a beta version out for testing that is supposed to fix the bug - https://foldingathome.org/beta/ - if you want to try that out.

Hello,

I had the same problem of GPU not recognized (a GTX770 though), even though the text file was already present. However I've downloaded the beta Joe_H mentionned, and everything is going fine now.
I wanted to let you know it is working well, at least for me.

Hey, The Beta Version works for me, the gpu is detected. But now my System just reboot when f@h starts so work. When in Puase all is fine. It doesn´t matter if "light", "medium" or "full", after some seconds my system just reboots.

Edir: It only Reboots when the Folding with GPU is enabled.

Can you download MSI Afterburner? Once done, you can use it to control the boost clocks that your 1070ti automatically tries to do. If you set its core clock to -400 by moving the slider all the way to the left? Then set the fans to max and Apply. You should be able to hear the fans ramp up.

Then pause the cpu slot. You want to minimise variables.

Now start the gpu slot. What happens?

Rationale for all this: when the cpu and gpu are trying to run, you could be overloading the PSU, the CPU or the GPU. We don't know which yet. So while the system fails when the GPU lost is running that could be caused by the GPU itself, the extra load on the CPU or the combined load on the PSU.

Hey, Yes MSi Afterburner is installed anyway, to control the fans.
CPU off, GPU on -400 works fine so far.
The CPU is a 2700X - Stock.

The PSU is a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold with 550w. so it should be enough. Before trying the Beta it works all fine (apart from that the GPU was not displayed)

HwInfo says that the 1070Ti is around 160W when folding

OK, next step then would be 1070ti at stock without the cpu folding. Auto on the fans. See if it gets very hot or if the system fails again.

GPU at Stock works. Its about 65° in Auto Fan Mode. So i think thats fine!

System doesn't crash so far.

Then I fear it has to be the amount of power being drawn from the PSU.

How to moderate it.

1) Set the cpu and gpu locked at stock. So limit the 2700X so it doesn't boost above 3700 and limit the 1070ti to 90% power
2) Set the cpu slot to use maybe only 12 cores
3) Invest in a PSU around 750W at least. PSU's are one of the most critical elements and also the one that can stay with you for many years through multiple system upgrades. Seasonic are terrific - I just think what you've seen with the cpu alone being fine and the gpu alone being fine but together they cause a reboot points to the PSU not being able to maintain the necessary voltages across the system.

Welcome to the F@H Forum philimi,

Please note that 7.6.9 isn't a Beta, it's a stable release. The only known issue with it is the inability to download the GPUs.txt file on a fresh installation. If upgrading from a previous installation, it works fine.

If you think there's a bug, please provide additional details and the log file. From what I understand, it seems to be a PSU issue, not a CPU folding issue.

You tried one CPU core on its own or with the gpu folding as well?
