Removing a card halfway through a WU, WU lost?

Post by MeeLee »

Is a WU lost, if I would remove the slot in the software connected to the card halfway through it's WU?
Or will it upload whatever of the WU has been processed already?

It will probably be dumped, and you not get credit for the WU. Once the client sees no suitable GPU slot to process the WU on, it will delete the WU from the client's queue and send a dump report, not an error report.

If you happen to have two GPUs with similar characteristics, you can remove one slot and the WU will be enqueued on the other GPU along with whatever is running on it. Other than that, the WU will be dumped and assigned to somebody else.

That's what the FINISH function is used for.
