Trouble getting F@H to start

Not sure if this falls under client issue or GPU WU issue.

I had a funky crash again on my rig and after restarting I am stuck in a loop of download WU then error out then download WU and repeat. It's affecting only the GPU slots, but all four of them fail to start.

I have so far tried restarting F@H, cleaning out the work directory and deleting/restoring the GPU folding slots. No luck.

I am wondering if this may be the result of a corrupted nVidia driver as I do see frequent occurrences of the display going blank and then coming back with a notification in the bottom right that there has been a driver crash. I have also seen code 116 BSOD's hit when Windows fails to recover.

I doubt it is a faulty GPU - not all four at once. Also, the cards are turned down as far as OC. Temps/voltages all good.

I am posting this now just because I have yet to reboot and didn't want to lose the log file generated.

Any ideas?

I'd agree with your guess that it's a driver issue. Unfortunately you didn't post the first couple of pages of the log where it shows which driver version you're running. (See below.) I'm happy running 430.86, though if you are a gamer, you probably are on a later version.

You won't lose the log ... but it will become more difficult to find. FAH keeps a number of previous log files in %APPDATA%\FAHClient\logs.

You're not running the current version of FAHClient -- though that probably is not the cause of your troubles. (Version: 7.5.1 is the current version.)

I will probably upgrade to 7.5.1 then, but I have never had issues with 7.4.4.

I am on a much older driver (361.43). This was before the issues with the 10 series drivers slowing down PPD. I also keep it since newer drivers were reported having either (sorry I don't remember exactly) dropped support or horrendous scaling issues for 4-way SLI, which these cards DO support and do it really well.

I will mention two more things though:

1. I have rebooted and have been folding for the past 14 or so hours without an issue or crash

2. EVGA's Precision X utility - I have found that it fails to hold down the frequency on one (always the same) GPU making me do it manually. Also, the utility will not load after this screen blinking and display driver crash/recovery scenario. Could it be that Precision X is messing with the drivers or causing the issues while it is running in the background? I don't believe I have it running ATM.

Thanks for that link. I skimmed over the release notes but don't see any mention of 4-way SLI being neutered. Is it possible nVidia has since fixed the issue?

Since I keep my hardware for a longer time I generally stick with the drivers that were around when the hardware was still being sold. nVidia has a history of dropping support for older tech (hybrid SLI anyone???) when they move to newer drivers.
