Folding for multiple teams

Post by MobileGamesMotion »

Hello!
I have been recently getting a lot of credits, and I want to know, is it possible and if so, to fold for 2 or more teams at once because there are a ton of teams I want to fold for and contribute to. Thanks! :|

Yes, you can with multiple devices.
If you only have one device just change the Team as needed.

Any Work Unit will be awarded to the team in your profile when the WU starts. After it starts you cannot change which team it is for, ever.

I only have one device. I saw somewhere that if you edited config, you could have multiple teams?

If using one device, you can only fold for one team at a time. You can use the same identity, and change teams as much as you want, but points for a WU cannot be given under 2 teams simultaneously. Sorry Friend!

However, what may be referred to is that you can set up separate folding slots and have different teams designated for each. SO for instance the CPU slot is contributing to Team A. and a GPU slot giving points to Team B.

This was tried by someone who posted here about several years ago. As far as I know, the client has not changed in that area and you should still be able to do this. YMMV

But I can only fold for CPU, so is it possible to have a profile for each thread? I have 4 slots, one for each CPU thread. If you can, can you also link a topic where this has been done?

a slot for each CPU thread is a really slow way to both complete WUs and gain points … a single 4core slot would complete WUs faster (getting you more points) and thereby "accelerate the science" as the next generation of a WU cannot be created until the one you are working on is sent back … you could switch teams back and forth (say weekly) if you wanted to contribute to multiple teams and the teams would each get more points overall than if you run single core threads.
