Could not get assignment id

Post by bronozoj »

Is this a problem with my network configuration on my server or is this an error with f@h servers right now?

Code: Select all

I do not have fahcontrol installed because i only connect to the server remotely as i cannot go to my office to gain physical access to it. It also doesnt have a dedicated gpu so i didnt bother to install cuda and opencl.

accessing via telnet does bring this up:

Code: Select all

Corporate firewall, either Hardware or Software?

I have been given permission by our project manager (current owner) to run distributed computing applications to help with COVID-19 research. I could access assignment servers and ip addresses from inside the server (wget downloads the http index webpage) as well as ping the servers by name and ip address. I am new to CentOS as most servers i have handled either run Ubuntu or Debian. Does folding@home need any firewall exceptions to run?

Possibly. Some firewalls block HTTP(S) data transfers if it is not from a "known" browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox and so on. If that is the case, then an exception would need to be added to allow the FAHClient process to transfer using those protocols over ports 8080 and/or 80.

Others block transfers over "raw" IP numbers such as used here:

Code: Select all

12:51:15:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get ID from '65.254.110.245:8080': 10002: Received short response, expected 8 bytes, got 0
Again the appropriate exceptions might need to be added.
