Client behavior that should be fixed

Post by iceman1992 »

I noticed something of an unexpected behavior that really should be fixed, if not for the 7.6 version, then the v8 client.
The client was unable to get a WU, and was waiting a few minutes before retrying, then I changed my mind and decided I didn't want it to fold at that moment, so I paused the client and exited fahcontrol. Later on I found out that it actually kept trying to download a WU even though I already paused the client - and successfully got one in the end after a few more tries, and it's been sitting there paused, without me knowing about it. This should be fixed

That's weird, can you please post your log? I know that if I pause my slot and it is attempting to download WUs, it will stop and not do anything.

It looks like your Pause managed to be a couple seconds after the client had already made contact with the WS. It may take a major change to the client to avoid that situation, the pause did stop the folding slot, but the download was already in progress. As far as I know, that is not affected by a Pause.

That's an interesting case where pause doesn't kill the download. I have raised an issue here for you to track: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1375
