AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series

Post by JTorset »

My AMD Radeon (TM) R9 390 Series GPU is not in the GPUs.txt listing.

Why? you seem to favor NVidia card by the lack of approved AMD cards

The list is by device ID numbers, and the card you have is more than likely already in the GPUs.txt file. AMD reused GPU chips and device ID numbers throughout the range of cards the sold, especially on the low to mid-range cards. If you look up your GPU device ID most likely you will find it listed as a R9 290 or similar.

The most likely listing:

Finished going through the posts waiting moderation, your second post has been deleted. But the supplied log showed that the card was recognized as expected, you ran into the same bug with the 7.6.9 version of the client software as other AMD and nVidia card owners, it did not create a GPU slot. However it did show a GPUs.txt file had been loaded and your card was recognized.

Please see this post for how to fix - viewtopic.php?f=61&t=34950&p=331168#p331168

Hi Joe_H,

Thank you for info.
Unfortunately this did not fix the problem.
I was only able to add another CPU slot. I have two CPU slots from before to be able to utilize the processor to the fullest.

Maybe its possible to download and use a previous version?

Did you check off the GPU button on the left side of the window when creating the slot for the GPU? Depending on the theme setting, that can be of low contrast.

Yes, this solved the problem. I did not see this previously. My bad.

Thank you. Working now, at least I could make the slot. Now waiting for a job.

Please note that currently the demand for GPU WUs has exceeded the supply for GPU WUs so it might take a while for your GPU to be assigned a WU. If in doubt, please post your log file :)
