Version 7.6.21 client stats

Post by TomTiddler167 »

I'm a "single" donor, i.e. not a member of a team. Prior to 7.6.21 when I clicked on my "Name" in the Advanced Client Control window, it linked me to a stats page, which showed both my rank, and the total number of single donors as in ' Rank is xxxxx of yyyyyyyyy'. I always took some comfort in knowing what percentile I was in, and used it to track my progress. Simple rank is not sufficient for that.

Now since 7.6.21, clicking on Name doesn't even show anything useful - I'm on a Team statistics page, then I need to go to the classic stats page, then I need to go to the single donor page, then I need to type my "Name". After doing all of that I get a page that tells me my rank, but no indication of total # of donors, so it tells me I'm Rank 23,000 - this would be great if there are 23,000,000 donors, but absolutely awful if there were 25,000 donors !!

I know this is a nitpick, and I'm aware that its not really a race, at least not one between individual competitors, but it doesn't hurt to feel that I'm slowly moving up the "ladder" :-)

Hopefully, someone can figure out how to restore some semblance of the previous behavior. In the meantime, I'll just let my machines plug away.

Is there any chance you have asked how to see your stats but not given the name your stats are under?

There's a known issue that the new stats page doesn't accept the user name in the URL (atm it only accepts the user ID). It's on the github page for the stats site for quite some time already. Use https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor to look up your user name, and access your stats.

What i think he is trying to say is that he not only wants to know his rank, say #15,245, but also his relative position, so for example #15,245 out of 3,000,000 users - You are at x% compared to all other folders. If there are 3Million users the rank 15K is pretty high. If the number of users is 30K, being at rank #15k puts you only halfway.

Yeah, I understand. The 'out of' part is visible on the stats page though (currently there are 2.865.438 accounts registered). You just can't currently access the stats page directly by clicking on the name in FAH Control.

I stand corrected then ☺️

Edit: That number is a sum total, correct? All users that have ever folded, active and inactive at this time?

I think so, but I don't know for sure. Maybe it (effictively) is limited to the number of users who ever folded, maybe it includes the users who never folded at all. It definitely is way more than the number of users active in the last month or two.

I think that this number, that is 2,865,530 right now, is the number of *usernames* ever included in this statistic. When I enter my username, which is very generic, I get a list of a dozen teams in which this name does or did appear (I myself only ever folded for a one team). So on the one hand, this number is certainly lower than the number of actual users who ever folded, which is unknown, but on the other hand it is way higher than the number of presently active folders, which is now around 35,000 over a week and 20,000 over a day according to https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... ist.php?s=
Short: this number is nearly meaningless.
To track progress, I would recommend using https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... ist.php?s=

Here's something I did that you could try.

Click the preferences button in the top left of the advanced control panel.
In the "Stats Links" box for the Donor Stats change the dropdown from "Folding@home" to "Custom".
In the now editable box enter "https://stats.foldingathome.org", without any other url info.
Save
Now try clicking your name in the control panel.

It took me to the FAH stats homepage which also gives an update on my/your personal contribution.

Thank you @aetch, that was the info I was looking for. I just wanted to see that a) was steadily moving up, and b) what percentile of the contributors I had acieved. Now I can see that, so thanks again. (and yes, I'm aware of how vain that makes me :-))

Take a mosey over to https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com
It's where a lot of us go for our statistics. F@H collect the raw data that anyone can pull to process, EOC do this on a 3 hourly basis, F@H can be a bit slower to process their statistics.
It's also where many of us got the adorable? stats boxes you see in some of our signatures.

I find the new stats reporting system a bit of a mess so I use https://statsclassic.foldingathome.org/donors as my custom donor link in FAHControl and use the search box to get my specific info or change "donors" in the above link to donor/yourusername.
I too use EOC stats more than the official stats system.
