After pause progress drops to multiple of 5 percent

Post by PawelS »

So for example folding is stopped at 59 % and after resuming it drops to 55 %. I'm not sure whether it is with all units, but I'm sure with many.

Some work units save your progress after every 5%, others are at 2%. Most won't revert to the last checkpoint unless you reboot, but I have seen this before. Not sure why pausing without rebooting sometimes does this, but I don't thing most do.

CPU folding creates a checkpoint every 15 minutes by default, that can be configured through FAHcontrol to between 3 and 30 minutes. In addition cores A7 and A8 may create a checkpoint when processing is paused, but that does not always happen.

GPU folding has the checkpoint interval set by the researcher, typical values are between 2% and 5% of progress. The checkpoint interval is listed in the log file when the WU starts up and can not be modified through the client.

All WUs will be restarted at the last checkpoint after pausing or a restart.
