Post by NicoV »

Hi,

The Jmol team is trying to release a new stable build of Jmol in the near future. If people are interested in translating the Jmol application in their own language, their help will be gladly welcome.

See here for the current status of the translations and explanations on the translation process, but basically we have :
* English
* Catalan (92 %)
* Czech (83 %)
* Dutch (99 %)
* Estonian (54 %)
* French (95 %)
* German (76 %)
* Portuguese (53 %), Brazilian Portuguese (99 %)
* Spanish (100 %)
* Turkish (92 %)

Just a plain word to word translation will produce awkward results.
Is there a way to produce the whole phrases and context those words are being used?

Except for mistakes, the .po files contain only phrases (or words) that are used as is, alone. There should be no combination of words in the code : if a phrase contains variable parts, there's only one phrase with the variable parts replaced by %. A lot of strings are used as menu items, so they are very short.
