ThrottleStop - CPU Frequency Manipulator

Post by PantherX »

ThrottleStop (http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/22 ... stop-6-00/)

I have recently discovered this application and have been using it, thus wanted to share it with the community. I find it very useful for my laptop since I can force the CPU to run at a fixed frequency 24/7 without any special settings in the BIOS. The GUI interface is slightly overwhelming at a glance so you need to know what you are doing otherwise, you may run into issues. Since I have been using it on Windows 8 64-bit, I haven't encountered any issues whatsoever (didn't have a chance to test it on batteries yet). Moreover, you can use this application to reduce the CPU temperature by decreasing the CPU frequency. The adjustments are applied in real time without any need to reboot the system.
