OK Zagen... I see the problem. At one point in time you had configured a client name as "Hong's SMP". The single quote character is not a legal character for an HFM Instance Name. If you try to configure that name now you'll notice that HFM won't allow you to do so. HFM will also "clean" this name upon load if it finds it in a configuration file, however, it didn't always do that in previous versions... so you have some entries in the CompletedUnits.csv that still have that name. Totally unexpected situation that wasn't even on my radar.

So, if you want to import your "Desktop" file you'll have to find those entries with the client name "Hong's SMP" and fix them to remove the single quote. Should this crash the app? No, of course not. But I don't think this situation is going to arise very often... so I'm not going to issue an immediate fix.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I knew when I was doing it that HFM doesn't like single quotes, but I never figured it'd be an issue. I understand not fixing it since most people won't have deliberately ignored the client's naming restrictions.

Anyway, after following PantherX's steps to fix the 670x's everything imported fine.

BTW, PantherX's suggestion on the naming scheme didn't seem to be completely necessary- I managed to import with the data with the dates in mm/dd/yyyy format just fine, but everything was already in that format anyway. Maybe it's just dd-month-yy format that is causing the issues.

Sweet! :) Yep... it expects the date format to be in mm/dd/yyyy format. I know several international cultures swap the day and month making it dd/mm/yyyy. I never took culture into consideration when designing the CompletedUnits.csv part of the system... and it was really a stop-gap to what I wanted to do anyway... but at the time I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. The WU Database is now in full swing with this latest version and it's really where I wanted to go with the data collection. Now everyone, regardless of Date/Time format, is playing on the same playing field. Plus there is just way more cool stuff I can do with the data now that it's in a SQL database.

Once again, thanks for your help Zagen... I surely appreciate it. :)

Just loaded up HFM.NET, and it works very fast and smooth. Good job and thanks!

I initially experimented with just 18 records with this format: (M/D/Y)

Code: Select all

5771 p5771_NTL9_370K FH GPU2 D:\F@H GPU\ PantherX 69411 GPU GROGPU2 1.31 0:00:40 7624.8 4/17/2010 1:26 PM 4/17/2010 2:33 PM 353 100 627 (3/231/282)
and it gave the same error in my previous post. However, when I changed the same data to this format: (M-D-Y)

Code: Select all

5771 p5771_NTL9_370K FH GPU2 D:\F@H GPU\ PantherX 69411 GPU GROGPU2 1.31 0:00:40 7624.8 4-17-2010 1:26 PM 4-17-2010 2:33 PM 353 100 627 (3/231/282)
It worked like a charm, hence I included it in my post. Nonetheless, I have edited it to make the date formatting optional if the 670X fix doesn't work fine along with mentioning that the duplicate WU message is a fix to a bug in the previous versions of HFM.NET and that the new WUs will be saved in WuHistory.db3 instead of CompletedUnits.csv file.

Just did the import after doing a search and replace(wordpad) for the bad P670x descriptions and all looks great.

Thanks for all the work you do Harlam :D

I am having an issewith the new verion of HFM.net. On application launch it generally shows all clients offline and the status is grey. I have to restart HFM.net 1 or 2 times before it starts reporting.

I have that issue but I am using the Task Scheduler so thought that it might be an issue with Windows. To rectify this, I simply exit HFM.NET and then restart it and everything is back to normal. BTW this issue I noticed with v0.6.0 and wasn't present with v0.5.1.198 and I am using the installer (.msi) one.

Hi lowfat/PantherX,

There is an issue with the Auto-Run functionality and loading the SQLite database library. I'll be issuing a fix probably by tomorrow (time permitting). Until then, please remove this option and start HFM manually after booting up. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

What PantherX said +1. An HFM restart cleared the issue. I'm running XP-32, HFM starts with windows.

EDIT: Ah, I see you posted the fix while I was typing. Well done that man!

I've noticed a slightly annoying issue with v0.6. I have it set to start with Windows, but when it does auto-start, the clients are not found by the client (all the Status boxes are gray). Even after letting it sit for some time and refreshing all the clients, it still doesn't see them. Closing and restarting HFM makes everything work.

New Version: 0.6.1 - Revision 251 - Beta - Download

A quick update to fix an issue with 0.6.0 and the Auto-Run option. No other changes. I apologize to those using Auto-Run that this issue has effected.

Check the HFM Google Code page for downloads and details on the changes. As always, if you need to find me quickly, see below. I usually answer pretty quickly.

I thought I had read all the previous posts...evidently not!

BTW, this forum/forum software really needs a facepalm smiley. Sometimes "oops" just doesn't cut it.

Re: HFM.NET - Client Monitoring Application for Folding@Home

Okay, so I downloaded the new version (installer) and installed it on my desktop but couldn't test it since I can't restart the system. So I decided to install HFM Release 0.6.0.249 on my laptop and then HFM Release 0.6.1.251 to see if the bug is fixed. Short answer, everything is working perfectly  Excellent job harlam357 8-)

Kinda long answer: When I first installed HFM Release 0.6.0.249 and started it, it gave me this error:

Code: Select all

HFM.NET v0.6.0.249

Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7600.0

Single Instance Helper Failed to Start.

Exception Thrown:
System.Runtime.Remoting.RemotingException: Failed to connect to an IPC Port: The system cannot find the file specified.

   at HFM.Classes.IpcObject.SignalNewInstance(String[] args)
   at HFM.Classes.SingleInstanceHelper.SignalFirstInstance(String[] args)
   at HFM.Program.Main(String[] args)
I exited it and again tried to open it and it worked fine. I am not sure what happened in the first attempt so I assumed it was a fluke. I verified that the bug was present by restarting the laptop then proceeded with the installation of HFM Release 0.6.1.251 and it fixed the bug.
So now, I have two questions:

1) The error that appeared on my laptop, should I be concerned about it?

2) I noticed that the old shortcut of HFM.NET would be broken even though I have installed it in the same place. Is there a reason for this?
