It's a long, long road from new advances in laboratory findings and manipulations to reliable, mass produced technology.

Google is testing out body sensors like the Fitbit and Google_Glass which can hold enough battery to store useful information and talk bluetooth. In 30 years, an entire PC will be imbedded in things like that.

Some science fiction shows have assumed that a bluetooth-like chip will be imbedded in the brain. It sounds like a more realistic picture of the future than direct mind-to-mind telepathy.
