Does folding@home work with Windows 8. I am trying to learn to use this operating system and would like to continue to fold. I copied the folder from the windows 7 install but it does not work. I reinstalled it and it still is not going.

Last I heard, V7 works fairly well in Windows 8, but that was a while back: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21128 and viewtopic.php?f=67&t=19648&start=15#p195722

I don't think it's a good idea to copy a folder over. I suspect it's best to install from scratch.

Without copying folders - just a clean install - it works fine.

It was only using 56% of the CPU so I shut it down and reinstalled it brought in an A4 unit project 7028 and still only using 56%

I did it again and it is still 56%. It looks like it won't be working in windows 8. I don't like the system so I'll be back to windows 7 in a couple of weeks. I sure wouldn't want to be the go to guy in business full of windows 8 machines.

Two cores. Yes I set it up as smp.

try setting it up as uni processor and it should use 100% of one core leaving you the other core to do work with. two is a prime and gives smp trouble. at least thats how i remember it.

While 2 is a prime, it is not a problematic prime, nor is 3 (there's dispute over whether or not 5 is a problem, but 7 definitely can be).
