Bigadv might be changed at any time. While it's true today, we simply do not know if bigadv will be released for Windows or if so, when. If so, it will certainly be restricted to 64-bit operating systems.

If bigadv are reserved for the most powerful 5% or 10% of the FAH machines, I wonder what percentage of those machines are Linux/Win64/MacOS.

Hi all,

I'm new here. I just wanted to tell you that it's very difficult to find the software to install from the website. I thought the "start folding" button would lead to the download page but it's not the case. In other words, it doesn't help new comers to join the party! :-/

After 10 minutes I'm still trying to find the download page.... Doh, I now understand!
The download window that appears when one clicks on the "Start folding" button is not complete when the browser is IE8 (I used that on a WinXP). The window text stops at "in just 5 minutes."

I know IE is not appreciated but it's still widely used. It would be nice to fix the page so that we can reach a wider audience.

I informed them about this problem months ago. I guess their web programmer is on vacation or something.

Welcome.

I contacted them directly to remind them of the issue. IE8 still has the problem we both saw.

Seems that the "Start Folding" download link (& popup window) is broken in IE9 and IE10 as well, and all that popup data appears appended to the bottom of the home page.

Until that is fixed, this alternate download site should help...

I don't know if this has been brought up in the last 7 pages or not because I don't have time to read all of them, but as of now it's still not fixed. When you click "Start Folding" and the window appears pointing to download links, the "Install Guide" button ultimately goes to http://folding.stanford.edu/home/ which is the wrong location. This is also true of the links when you click on "See All Downloads". It looks like the Linux link is programmed to go to http://folding.stanford.edu/English/LinGuide and the Windows to http://folding.stanford.edu/English/WinGuide. I suppose that those pages don't actually exist and the site's default 404 response is to redirect to http://folding.stanford.edu/home/. Anyway, I found the correct main installation guide page here: http://folding.stanford.edu/home/guide/. Seems like it would be a simple fix. Kind regards to those with the power to fix it :)

I'll ask them to up date those links.

You might want to temporarily change the Linux install guide so it doesn't list AMD GPUs as being supported. I know there's the bolded statement a little ways down saying the drivers are causing them to not be supported, but it can be interpreted as conflicting information.

These should be fixed now.

GPU Slot Requirements
Recent 32 bit or 64 bit Linux distribution, Ubuntu 11.04, Red Hat 6.x, OpenSUSE 11.x
For linux a 64-bit o/s is required for native GPU folding ... there is no 32-bit version.

Yes we do have a 32-bit client and core in Windows. However there is no 32-bit linux core_17. As to why not you would have to ask proteneer.
