Why is my "Active clients (within .. days)" so high ?

Post by PFM »

I mostly use the NaCl client on only one computer and one browser, yet on my personal stats page the "Active clients within...days" shows several active clients - 15 , 20 or more sometimes. Why is that ?
The computer has just a basic two core mobile cpu (P9670). Or is my understanding of "clients" wrong ?
Seems like it may be counting a new client every time its a new browser session and the client is downloaded again.

If you reinstall the traditional client without saving the data, it is treated as a new client. I never though about the NaCl client, but I suppose it follows the same logic.

It would be possible for NaCl to deposit a cookie so that it remembers it's re-using an earlier client ID, but I don't see that such a change would improve the science you're contributing. Besides, cookies often get cleared by other processes (along with any remnants of the WU you worked on previously).
