FAH and Mint 19

I have killed my main Linux system while attempting to update from 17.3 to 18. The update failed and I'm not smart enough to figure out how to fix it. I'm now faced with the prospect of doing a clean install. I really really didn't want to do this update, but 17.3 is going unsupported in spring of next year. Is anyone running Mint 19 with FAH ? Any issues about FAH or anything else that I need to be aware of before proceeding ?

Thanks

I ran into a similar problem upgrading Ubuntu. Before upgrading Debian/Mint/Ubuntu, you have to unload the add-on drivers and either revert to Noveau or disable whatever xserver code us driving your GUI. I tried a number of things to recover my machine and finally settled on a clean install.

Here's a related discussion, though it's not exactly the same.

bruce,
I think you gave a link to a file on your own computer.

In case anyone else has this question, I can confirm that Mint 19 runs FAH fine. The installation itself was the usual multi-day hassle. The system is dual boot with linux and Windows 10 and I've had lots of problems with it in the past. This time I ran into GRUB/UEFI/CSM issues caused by the older Windows installation being on an MBR partition (couldn't get GRUB to see the Windows partition). The problem indications weren't obvious and it took me a long time to figure it out. Good news is that I now have a 5 year support window and I won't have to do this again until 2023.
