I am euthanizing the Windows 7.0 x86 (64-bit) system tonight, upon attempted completion of the GPU task in progress.

As has been suggested, there will be another surge in FAH users when the next wave of illness strikes. Unfortunately I'm not sure the number of Donors (users) is the best criteria for FAH's size. If lots of people are trying o get work -- because of the capacity limitations of the servers, they're not really active, even if they've turned in one WU within the past 7 days. The real test will come when we have a surge in new clients AND we have enough servers AND projects to keep them all busy.

Donors.txt was showing 2.4 million individual entries a couple of days ago, but the top one is still the "unknown soldier" - ie Anonymous. I assume that list is for every donor who has ever connected. Is there another stat that would help provide the number of anon folders, ideally active anon? I suspect not, but was wondering whether anyone was aware of a number ever being reported or even estimated...
Anonymous is simply the list of of Donors who never choose to configure a username while folding. This also includes Donors who configured a new client and then forgot to configure the username. It is not a list/count of all donors. I have never folded without my username and suspect that other donors too fit in the same category.

AFAIK, there's no other 3rd party Stats except EOC. You can use parsing tools to see that information. Using Notepad++ this is what I got:
5,555 Donors that have the exact word "Anonymous" as their username.
11,180 Donors that contain the word "Anonymous" in their username, e.g. Anonymous1957, GMKJAnonymous, SemiAnonymousWolf

By "that list" I meant Donors.txt. The number I was interested in is the number of donors who have folded without a username. I don't think that's available for extraction from any of the stats I've seen. Donors who have registered with a username "AnonymousXXXetc" aren't the ones I was interested in. The "folded without username" appear to have been a large group over time, and I was interested to get a feel for how many of them there are currently/how significant their input is. I guess looking at the change in number of wu folded over time from donor number 1 on donors.txt would give me an idea of that.

I did ponder whether the difference in the total on donors.txt (approx 2.4 million) and the 2.7 million shown in "Overall Rank (if points are combined)" on the Donor Stats page might be the number of un-named anonymous donors, ie approx 300k.

The reason for wanting to know the number is that I've seen several references to Team Anon being "the slow folders". As a definite slow folder, I'd be interested to know how my output compares to the average for that group. It seems that I'm unlkely to find that out from any of the current stats.

I'm beginning to think that a lot of people starting to fold, went on a shopping spree, to upgrade their rigs. Amazon and a lot of other stores are empty on hardware.

That was expected as it is summer time now. Some people cannot run their rigs if it gets too hot outside.

These are some significant losses the last couple days. If this is caused by the summer heat, we have a lot of hotter days ahead of us... Could there be another explaination?

Patches to intel cpu microcode? ... The latest microcode patch (which is now unpatched) caused a drop from 275k PPD to below 200k PPD on my system ... Maybe that, and some of the issues with high failure rate WUs, along with a crop of lower PPD WUs in circulation could all play into this? ... Along with the warm season arriving and the intial excitement of the FAH surge wearing off and people leaving?

But whatever, still massively higher than was at year start so still a huge achievement to have this much resource at this point in time as far as I am concerned.

I think all of the above might be part of it. With so many countries loosening Covid restrictions, summer, lack of available hardware, Intel patches!, and the general "acceptance" of Covid-19, there are less people folding.

But as long as there is a sustained increase vs before Covid-19, the long term gains are still there. And now there have been lessons learned from the huge influx of new folders, along with hardware upgrades to support the massive throughput that was taking place.

But as I've seen myself, overall FAH has been influenced the most by the long term dedicated users, who pulled most of the weight over time. I'm going to start a thread to see how many people will give out rankings to stress this point. I find it amazing that so few people have really done so much work, and want to see if I can get enough input to create a visual for others.

Today got so hot on my balcony, my GPUs ran their fan at emergency (above 100%) fan speeds from time to time, that I had to reduce the power output.
I may need to put the box fan back, as the small honeywell table fan isn't powerful enough to cool all my systems.

The "good" thing is that the various science teams seem to have plenty of projects already in FAH. The number of new beta projects has been very low lately, so they should already have lots of data to analyze from our returned results.
