manually trigger data send/receive

Post by tkoctal »

One of the clients I have folding is connected to a VPN from time to time (from which it cannot reach the FAH servers).

Can I manually trigger the local client to try reaching out when I have disconnected from the VPN?

Thank you.

If it runs the latest client (.13) the retry timer has been reprofiled with a much lower maximum time (1 hour down from 6) this might significantly assist even without any scripting any 'manual' atempts?

Pause and resume your FahClient to force connection attempt to the servers.

Coding for pause and resume only when waiting for WUs on a non attended system has I believe been done in the past ... hopefully someone who has worked on this or similar will weigh in on this thread ... but yet again the auto retry has been reprioritised and so this should hopefully not be necessary on the latest client.

Pause/resume a slot will trigger a download but not an upload, restarting the client will trigger uploads.

Welcome to the F@H Forum tkoctal,

Please note that frequently pausing/unpausing the client to re-set the download timer is not encouraged as it adds to the problem of server saturation. However, you can upgrade to V7.6.13 which has addressed the retries by capping the timer to 1 hour as Neil-B mentioned is a much better method.
