Firewall access for FAH client

Post by caseroj »

Hi,

I downloaded this client but when the screensaver starts it is clear it is not able to communicate with the remote server to get a specific work task. I surmise it is because I am behind a firewall and for security reasons I do not allow unsecure protocols like ftp through the firewall. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? Is there a way to configure the client so that is uses http instead of ftp to communicate with the remote server. Alternatively I can create a firewall rule to allow ftp access to a specific server in the internet. Does this project have such information published so that we can don't have to crack open ftp access to the whole internet?

Thanks

Welcome to the folding support forum.

The client already uses HTTP connections. The usual problem with firewalls or other anti-malware is that many now restrict HTTP connections by default to "known" browsers such as IE, Edge, Chrome and so on. If this is the case here, then you need to add an exception for the FAHClient portion of the folding client to use HTTP over ports 8080 and 80.
