Alzheimer

A few years ago F@H was working on what was then called very promissing research on small drug molecules that would stabilize an intermediate state of the Alzheimer-protein, so no plaques would be formed in the brain anymore.

Since a (potential) drug was used that had already been cleared by the FDA "this drug could hit the market considerably quicker".
However, I have not seen any blogs (reports) on this research since that time.
- Is this research still ongoing, did it lead to anything or was it stopped?

Kind regards,

Corné

I don't recall where I saw it, but a followup question on this was answered in the last year or two. What I recall is that during early testing they ran into issues with toxicity, and discontinued testing.

This might mean that a variant of the existing drug could be created and tested in the future, but that will take longer.
