There is a "backup collection box" but I'm not so sure about the "always" part of it.

But, be careful what you wish for. In my experience the collection server causes more problems than it solves. Four days ago one of my systems tried to upload a work unit to the 128.143.199.97 work server, which was having problems, so instead it uploaded to the collection server. That work unit has still not be credited and I doubt that it ever will be, and this is certainly not the first time I've had that same issue with the collection server.

If my lost work unit had stayed on my system instead, at least it would have eventually uploaded to the work server and gotten a greatly reduced number of points. Going to the collection server meant that it got no points at all and probably counts against me as an unreturned work unit. The collection server is a black hole where things are magically disappeared.

I sympathise but my wish remains. A working alternative upload available as soon as I need it.

I agree this is a problem and something we need to fix ASAP. I've taken this off the AS until it can handle the WU's better. That will ease it up to handle only new accepts.

I have also contacted Dr. Kasson and suggested some things that could help fix this longer term. We don't want to make to many new changes this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the US (with much of my team out Thr and Fri), but we will likely get that going next week.
