As usual, nobody reacts with PG / Stanford to fix the problem.

If there was anything back on the status we or PG would post it. So far there has been no word, possibly to be expected since it is evening out there at Stanford. What can be seen is the number of WU's received on servers and waiting to be entered into the stats has steadily increased over the last few hours. As I post the number is up to a total of a bit over 40,000 waiting to be entered into the stats database.

Not a problem, as long as the work units are still being accepted and completed. Just want to keep contributing and not waste electricity if work units were not being processed. Thanks for reply.

That's not an uncommon phrase when something goes wrong.

I get the impression that, for some at least, dedication to the project is an office hours phenomenon.

I do not think that very fair nor accurate, this is hardly crippling the project that stats are not updated overnight, one night... The work is still being done and a catchup will occur on past experience.

Fair point, but it wasn't only the stats I had in mind, it just prompted the feelings I have when WS's in particular go down and donors either don't get WUs or lose points because they can't upload completed ones.

The value of a WU (ie points) is determined assuming that donors make their resources available 24/7- if they don't then there's a lot of WUs that won't meet the deadlines. I don't think it's too unreasonable for donors to expect Stanford to make their resources available on the same basis.

Another aspect is that organisation that rely heavily or entirely on their computers make sure that someone is available on 24-hour call so that if something goes wrong they can fix it, get it fixed or at least bypassed in short order. Easter is coming up- if 155.247.166.219 and 155.247.166.220 aren't fixed before those holidays start I don't expect them to get much attention until afterwards.

I fully realise that this means (occasional) major inconvenience for someone- I've been there, and called at 3am. It's a major pain in the backside when it happens, but it goes with the territory.

It is nearly 3AM pacific time. According to the web page, the stats have not updated in 18 hours.
The local log says that work units are uploading and points are being awarded. But that is not reflected on the web page for personal stats.

I am glad that the science is proceeding. That is the ultimate goal.
But, it would be nice to have the stats work. It serves as a good morale booster. Reporting stats probably helps to encourage participation, especially among new comers (who may still be uncertain if they can endure the jet aircraft-like noise from the GPU cooling fans :(
