Hung downloads from 171.67.108.60

Post by DrBB1 »

I saw a related discussion about 171.67.108.52 at viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26913, but wasn't sure that was the best place to post. I had problems today with two WUs failing to completely download today from 171.67.108.60. I just checked the Server Status and didn't see any obvious red flags; however, almost all of the entries in the table for this server (from "Net Load" to "WU E") are blank. Not sure what this means, so I am posting in case this is meaningful.

BTW, in both cases today, I closed FAH and restarted it, and was assigned a new WU from a different server with no download problems.

As you probably know, the Pande Group has been updating the code on their servers. it's impossible to upgrade everything concurrently plus keep FAH running, so in addition to any bugs that are uncovered, there are issues with backward compatibility which are often non-critical. One such issue is the Server Status page which attempts to collect data from any server code version that's still operational. Once everthing has been synchronized on the new code, the Server Status code will need to be upgraded.

When a download fails (for whatever reason), the FAHClient does not recover and needs to be restarted. That's an open bug on the current version.

bruce,

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware of all the things going on behind the scene at once.
