More than half an hour I see this text - "Waiting to retry work server assignment"; "Warning: Unexpected response to AS assignment request: error,No appropriate assignment".

Same here. It started with the clients stuck on upload or download. Refreshing gave the error you reported.
Also, a number of my regular v7 clients were stuck on send or download so I suspect a general Stanford network problem.
