Today I am getting a Connection Timed Out error when trying to use the Web Control. Reloading the page doesn't work.

Another day and a restart of the computer but still getting the error message when trying to view the Web Control:

Client Connection Timed Out
Your browser was unable to connect to a
Folding@home client running on your computer.

1. Install the Folding@home client.
2. Make sure your Folding@home client is running.
3. Reload this page.
Reload Page?

No, still not fixed, it is a server issue.

The last 24 hours has seen this problem resolved, for me at least.

Yes, Web Control will work if you use the http version of the address - http://folding.stanford.edu/client/. The https connection as shown in foldy's post is still not working, they may not have gotten to the point of fixing a certificate problem that was identified.

I've never used it and was just wondering, what is the advantage of using Web Control?

Mainly simplicity for setting up, especially for first time installers and folders. It has another advantage for some, by using a browser it can work on systems missing some of the dependencies for FAHControl.

Open Advanced Control and delete the Web Control option on the Expert tab. Put the Advanced Control (aka FAHControl) in your Start folder. It's much more informative and useful.
