The 3-headed dragon is appropriate as long as we're limiting the discussion to AMD. I'm playing Whack A Mole too but the problems like in FAHClient's GPU detection code which is undergoing massive changes.

I'm having similar problems with one of my rigs. It pretty much started around late friday night into saturday morning. I've tried reinstalling the gpu drivers and fahclient a number of times and the problem is still there.Looks like it can't detect opencl. I got 3 other computers running GTX 1660super and AMD Vega 56, they are running fine at the moment.

I have the same problem since yesterday night. After reading this thread up to here,
I tried to install (as suggested) ocl-icd-opencl-dev, but it was already installed.
Restarting the client did not fix things, still no success.

You might want to try (re)installing the latest drivers from nvidia as OpenCl does not seem to be being detected

Yes, Windows Drivers will reinstall OpenCL but Linux needs the OpenCL developer package (and for MacOS, there is no option).

It looks like you launched FAH while a CPU WU had already been started before. Which is fine of course. But it might have interfered. I would try to finish it, uninstall FAH, ddu the present drivers, reinstall them, maybe restart after that to be sure, and then reinstall FAH.

I' still gathering information but the problem is wider than that.

I would (1) Pause FAH, (2) Reinstall OpenCL (see my post above), and (3) Reboot. If that works, it's a lot easier than everything you suggest --- but keep that thought in mind, in case my quick fix doesn't solve the problem.

It looks like you launched FAH while a CPU WU had already been started before. Which is fine of course. But it might have interfered. I would try to finish it, uninstall FAH, ddu the present drivers, reinstall them, maybe restart after that to be sure, and then reinstall FAH.
Like everyone else here having this problem. It just happened around the same time period and no updates or changes were done to the computer. My other computer running with GTX 1660super is running with the same drivers and no problems.

Windows update was deactivated?

EDIT: I mean, this is an old problem, it happened regularly: Windows updates the display drivers but not as good as FAH is wishing. And then OpenCL is not detected anymore.

EDIT2: We have to separate the OpenCL detection problem and that 192.0.2 "server". That peculiar error message has been there since at least may.

Not just windows update tbh ... Hardware vendor updates (in my case Dell) also push gpu drivers update (mine just did nvidia as urgent) - I didn't even check if this worked with FaH - just installed latest drivers direct from nvidia and rebooted ... loosing OpenCL regrettably does happen when GPU drivers are patched by various automated routes.

I accept some of those posting in this thread appear to have disabled auto patching - but the symptoms appear very similar ... If it were just the 192.0.2.1 without any OpenCL issues it might feel more like an issue with GPUs.txt - but this feels more like a driver patching scenario - or at least something occurring that invalidates existing OpenCL drivers/setup but that again would normally be an OS update or some such.

I know there are a rash of security patches/upgrades/issues that are likely to be hitting linux/ms/bios over the near future but not sure the impact of any of these might cause these symptoms.

Disabling auto patching of drivers avoids many of the issues. But especially for Windows, there are many things that will ignore that bit disabling an auto patch, and do it anyways.

There are other possible causes, Bruce is trying to collect enough information to see which ones might be part of this current wave of issues.
