I have figured out that 0.0.0.0 as an address is not a problem.
While I am reasonably new to F@H, I have not seen this kind of activity in the 2 months I was folding with my Laptop. Now that I have a "real" folding machine I am seeing a lot of WU's in the Advanced ControlWork Queue. at one point this afternoon 10, now it is down to 8. The only common thread I see is these 3 servers are involved 140.163.4.241 155.247.166.219, 155.247.166.220.
I can access all three servers directly.
Is this a common occurrence, not worthy of note? or is there a problem of some type?
Servers do have limitations. Those limitations seem to always happen on the weekends when the people who can alleviate them are around to fix them. In your case, the two most likely candidates are "disk full" or "bandwidth limitation exceeded" With some digging, I can probably figure out which of those apply to the three you mentioned and notify somebody who can take appropriate action(s). (That still may not help until they show up for work on Monday morning.)
FAHClient is designed to deal with such conditions by holding on to the result and retrying later ... especially since there (probably) isn't anything you can do about it.
I don't understand why your FAHClient retryied so often in the first part of your post. It should reduce the frequency of retries exponentially. Which version of FAHClient are you running?
Your response was what I expected. Since I had not experienced this over the few months I've been folding, I didn't know if there was someone that checked the forum on weekends or not, so I posted the problem I was having. The thing you should know is that I am still tinkering a bit with my new PC, adjusting fan curves to keep it from burning up, and have "finished" the work a couple of times so I could tweak the BIOS a bit, and each time the counter for how many times the client had attempted a connection zeroed out and started over. When I got up the morning the number on one of them was at 21 attempts, and it is at 13 attempts now. I do see the the time between attempts does get larger as time goes on, which is goodness.
In a prior life I also learned that the only time something important would break/happen was either on my birthday, anniversary, spouses/childs birthday or a weekend/holiday. If this happens again, I'll post a notice that it happened and wait for the next business day to worry about it.
Those of us who support this site are all volunteers. We get the same salary no matter what time of day it is, what day of the week it is, or how many hours we "work"
A lot of the official FAH staff do a lot of volunteering, too, but most of them take the weekends off except if we ping them.
