Failed to get ID from assign1.foldingathome.org:80

Post by StephenF420 »

I checked my firewall (pc and router), exceptions in MalwareBytes, exception in Pi-Hole, FAH works on mobile network, I can ping all the assign servers.
Something is blocking me from getting assignments and I can't figure out what.

Code: Select all

Could you post the output of the system information from the Folding At Home Advanced Control (FAHControl)? It will give us a little bit more information about the card you are using, so one of the more experienced members of the forum who has knowledge of these issues can help (should I not be able to).

Without having any more information to go on at this point of time, I am suspecting that we may need to take a peek at the GPUs.txt file once we have your GPU card related information, and see if one of the file maintainers needs to fix something on their end (so you get an updated copy that will not cause an error).

to me that looks like a dns/proxy/firewall error rather than anything in the gpus.txt - https errors tend to indicate that?

Here is a thread from someone who had a similar (same ?) issue https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32956 where the final post might explain why you can ping but the FAHClient can't get through ... I'll trawl the forums for other threads where people have worked through this issue sucessfully and post links into this post in case any help.

You may have more than one problem, but I can clearly see one. It says you GPU is identified as NVIDIA:1. That means the client believes the GPU is unsupported or the drivers are not configured correctly.

At the very beginning of FAH's log (well, really a couple hundred lines from the beginning), the client starts by configuring the hardware it finds. It should look something like this.

03:20:51: CWD: (whatever)
03:20:51: OS: (whatever)
03:20:51: OS Arch: AMD64
03:20:51: GPUs: 1
03:20:51: GPU 0: Bus:103 Slot:0 Func:0 AMD:5 Vega 10 XL/XT [Radeon RX Vega 56/64] (or whatever)

A lot if that kind of information is repeated each time a FAHCore starts, but those are incomplete.

In the one shown above:

14:46:41: OS: Windows 10 Enterprise
14:46:41: OS Arch: AMD64
14:46:41: GPUs: 1
14:46:41: GPU 0: Bus:1 Slot:0 Func:0 NVIDIA:1
14:46:41: CUDA Device 0: Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:1 Slot:0 Compute:6.1 Driver:11.1
14:46:41:OpenCL Device 0: Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:1 Slot:0 Compute:1.2 Driver:457.30

You'll notice that the GPU is identified as a NVIDIA:1 and it does not give it's name. I can't tell why.

the output from Linux lspci or from FAHClient --lspci in the console/command prompt showing GPU items would also be helpful
