Can't submit work? 171.64.65.64, 171.67.108.25

Post by lucifex »

I get these messages for days at a time. I've had the deino-smp client running at 100% on a quad-core xeon for days, but I haven't been able to submit any work for close to two weeks.

Server status page doesn't indicate any problems with those two servers.

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/serverstat.html

Click each of the links below to see if you get the "OK" response:

http://171.67.108.25/
http://171.67.108.25:8080/

http://171.64.65.64/
http://171.64.65.64:8080/

All of those work from here.

Well, for me the first two do not work from here---- I get a blank page in each case.

The same for two other severs for another WU in que.

I'm having this issue as well. Haven't been able to submit a unit in at least a couple weeks.

Running on an Intel Mac Pro.

Code: Select all

15:22:08 + Attempting to send results December 11 15:22:08 UTC
15:22:08 - Reading file work/wuresults_01.dat from core
15:22:08 (Read 25967781 bytes from disk)
15:22:08 Connecting to 171.67.108.25:8080
15:22:08 - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
15:22:08 + Could not connect to Work Server (results)
15:22:08 (171.67.108.25:8080)
15:22:08 + Retrying using alternative port
15:22:08 Connecting to 171.67.108.25:80
15:22:09 - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
15:22:09 + Could not connect to Work Server (results)
15:22:09 (171.67.108.25:80)
15:22:09 Could not transmit unit 01 to Collection server; keeping in queue.
15:22:09 + Sent 0 of 2 completed units to the server
15:22:09 - Autosend completed
15:22:16 - Assembly optimizations manually forced on.
15:22:16 - Not checking prior termination.
15:22:16 Error: Work unit read from disk is invalid
15:22:16 Finalizing output
15:22:17 - Expanded 4845381 -> 23993021 (decompressed 495.1 percent)
Checking the info above shows the server accepting, but I get a blank page on: 171.67.108.25 and 171.67.108.25:8080. But, 171.64.65.64 and 171.64.65.64:8080 work.

Any thoughts? This is getting annoying and pointless.

I'm thinking it may be something between you and Stanford.

Both of these return OK from here.

Temporarily disable the internet security software on your machine. Does that help?

When I clicked on them first time, they returned a blank page. Subsequent loadings returns OK.

I do not have internet security settings set as I'm running OS X.

I have a similar problem, started today. I get a blank on the first connections to those addresses, and OK on subsequent attempts. Since the FaH client only tries once before moving on to the next address, I'm guessing it fails in the same way.

I also run OS X, and have had no problems for several weeks. I haven't changed any settings on my router or OS.

Thank you, Bruce, for that suggestion.

I was having the same problem on my MBP today sending home a WU to these servers. I checked the firewall and for some reason one of my fah cores was showing as not being allowed. I changed it to allow and re-booted the machine and it is now sent.
