171.64.65.65 says ok but won't accept work

Post by pompeyrodney »

The above server is causing me loads of grief as I keep getting "Unknown packet returned from server, expected ack for results" even when I have no firewall running. This has been happening for days now is getting a little annoying to say the least. This has been happening now since the work unit was finished on October 16, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Are you using a proxy? I think there may be some complications with 6.22 and proxy settings.

If not, one previous suggestion was deleting your config file and restarting the client (you'll need to re-enter your configuration info).

"Got status 503" means a server is busy, but I'm not sure if it necessarily means the destination server or perhaps any of the routers/proxies between you and that server. Post the output from tracert/traceroute like this.

OK. I was just responding to your comment about the ack message in your first post. 6.22beta2R3 had an ack fix (http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=4913), but has since been updated to 6.23. I really don't understand it. I was just responding to the "ack." :-)

As near as I can tell, you get the "ack" message because the connection timed out. I can't tell you whether that's due to something in the client that changed between 6.22 and 6.23 or whether it's a proxy issue or a server issue or something else entirely. If 6.23 works for you, good.

My questions remain--are you using a proxy? Have you tried deleting the config file?
