171.65.103.157 issue ?

Post by PFM »

F@H Systray couldn't start next WU. Log file keeps repeating this -

[01:33:37] + Attempting to get work packet
[01:33:37] - Connecting to assignment server
[01:33:38] - Successful: assigned to (171.65.103.157).
[01:33:38] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
[01:33:38] Loaded queue successfully.
[01:33:38] + Could not connect to Work Server
[01:33:38] - Attempt #2 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

What's going on ?

That server doesn't have any more WUs to be assigned. You either need to wait until some results are return and it makes new WUs from them or you need to be willing to accept work from other servers.

There is a general shortage of WUs for classic clients right now and I've already notified the appropriate people. Having a couple of servers down doesn't help either. (See the announcements.)

In the meantime, you may be able to increase your chances of getting a new assignment if you reconfigure your client to accept a wider variety of WUs. Allow your client to accept BigWUs. Allow your client to accept advmethods WUs. If you've already done those things, please be patient.

I have checked 'Allow receipt of assignments greater than 10MB', if thats what you mean by BigWU. (I am using the systray client 6.23 on XP)
For the -advmethods, should I just add that flag to the command line in the shortcut/icon ?

Yes, that is the BigWU option. In the systray client, you can add the -advmethods switch in the client setup on one of the tabbed pages. There is a field where you can type it in. Much easier than editing a shortcut.
