On a slightly overclocked i7 940 with 12GB of RAM (V7 client), that's a SLOW wu!

It's still 2.5 days into it, but it will be about 6 days of 24/7 folding to complete it, altogether.

points are about 280 ppd, but I'm not worried about the points.

Everything (temps, etc.), are good.

So is that with 4-cores/8-threads or something less?

It shows only one a4 core running. I've re-started it several times, but it's always the same. It's a 4 core / 8 HT core cpu, of course (with HT enabled).

The flag on the client (v7.1.50) is simply -smp, with the folding client showing it as smp: 8. Every other smp wu has multiple cores running, but not this son-of-a-gun. I finally finished it just now.

The next wu is a 8026 project using the a4 core, and again, it is only generating one core thread. I believe there is a problem either with the assignment server, or the FoldingClient --> FoldingControl (which are both running, btw), that the right number of cores aren't being generated.

Since I'm trying to get set up for the Chimp Challenge, I'm going back to the console client, when this next wu is finished.

That is how the A4 and A3 cores should show up on your system, only one fahcore_a4 process should show. Depending on what you are using to monitor the processes on your system, that should show how many threads are being used by that process. The count will be the number of cores set in FAHControl plus some overhead threads that handle things like writing checkpoints. Could you post the beginning of the log that shows the configuration (System section) and the beginning and end of processing the WU's.

As for having a long time per frame, there have been a number of WU's reported in the SMP 76xx series with this problem. The person in charge of these projects was able to identify a problem with some 7611 WU's, viewtopic.php?f=19&t=20976#p210709, and remove them from processing. Reports with sufficient detail may help in identifying the underlying problem, you aren't the only one to have received one if examination of the log doesn't show another issue.
