no credit for WU's complete

Post by void4ever »

I'm sorry if this is the incorrect area for this post, i wasn't sure if this board or the WU board was more appropriate.

I recently started folding with a Nvidia G210 using the V7 client. Before hand this machine was folding using the SMP client (dual core) without issue. I made no changes to the client except to add the GPU and remove the SMP. I also updated from ver .48 to .52 in hopes of fixing this issue.

The client and GPU appear to be running perfectly fine, it's completing WU's on avg of about 7 hours per unit. However it shows PPD as Unknown. When i check the logs I see no error's at all, however there is 1 line missing which is the "Estimated Credit" line after an upload. This explains why the PPD shows as Unknown since i'm not receiving credit for these WU's, but i can't for the life of me figure out why I'm not receiving credit.

Below i will post a section of log from the last WU completed.

As you can see i get the Upload complete, and the server respond like normal, but then no credit. Looking back at previous WU's when it was crunching SMP WU's it shows the Estimated Credit line after the Server Response.

Any ideas?

Hello void4ever and welcome to the site. :)

I checked the database and found your WU was credited.
Hi void4ever (team 64),
Your WU (P5768 R8 C216 G3580) was added to the stats database on 2012-06-01 16:02:33 for 353 points of credit.
Does this resolve the issue for you?

Not all of the work servers, among them the one(s) containing pre-Fermi Nvidia work, have the necessary code to provide v7 with credit information, so the client defaults to displaying "unknown." The servers can't provide a credit estimate upon completion for the same reason. As sortofageek showed, you are being credited, it's just that the client itself doesn't have the information to tell you that.

Also, why did you remove the SMP slot? Your computer should be perfectly capable of running SMP and GPU concurrently.

Ahhh that makes perfect sense, i didn't know that some servers didn't show credit. Thank you for enlightening me!

I took the SMP off because originally i popped in a 4850, but wasn't receiving WU's. After doing some research i realized why and swapped it for the G210. I've been an ATI/AMD folder all my life so I'm use to that client eating tons of CPU time. It was just recently that I realized the Nvidia core eats hardly anything at all, so I'll be firing the SMP back up in conjunction with the G210.

Are there any plans to upgrade these servers code to include credits? Either way thank you so much for your time!

Hmmm, I wonder if this is the same answer I will get about my GTX 260 not showing points on my client control.
I hadn't seen this thread before I started one about it.

Upgrading all the servers to the latest code is on their to-do list, but from my understanding even "minor" upgrades can be a major hassle. I'm guessing they don't want to go through all of that solely to fix what is really just a cosmetic issue. I have no idea when the next upgrade will occur, and I doubt anyone outside PG does, either.

@DoctorSon: It's the same issue.
