See this topic. Basically the folding slot is trying to download a new version of the A3 core which is only available as a 64-bit executable. When you setup the slot it was probably with an older version of V7, some misidentified systems as only being 32-bit capable. Pausing folding, creating a new slot and starting just the new one should fix it. Once that is done you can delete the old slot. If the WU does not migrate to the new slot, deleting the slot will take care of removing it.

You MUST also upgrade to version 7.2.9 to not have this happen again. Upgrade before adding/removing slots.

is that smp gpu or uniprocessor?

i set it up as smp, Mac graphic cards are not supported, and this iMac has "on board" graphics chips,
graphics cards are reserved for Pro Towers, not iMacs

We've had two very different problems causing failures to download the right core. On Windows, it was a GPU-related problem caused by a server error. On OS-X it is a SMP-related problem associated with OSX 10.6 and with a FahClient that's older than V7.2.9.

Project 7504 is a SMP assignment, so we're talking about the latter.

(Hint: You can look up project 7504 in the Project Summary and determine that it's a SMP project.)

Glad you are back in business. I see you found a link to the 7.2.9 download, another source is going to the Folding Home Page. It should auto-detect your system and supply the correct download. It also has links to downloads for other OS's and older pre-V7 downloads.

P.S. 7.2.9 has a working viewer that displays the current WU instead of just a demo. Some WU's have more to show than others, but finally you can see the protein being folded. The viewer does consume CPU resources, so it is not something to be left running all of the time, but is nice to see on occasion.
