a4 10% bonus not applied

Post by billford »

I suspect this may be an accident of timing... log extract:

Code: Select all

09:01:41:WU01:FS00:0xa4:Project: 6360 (Run 6, Clone 32, Gen 37)
.

.
17:04:44:WU01:FS00:Upload complete
17:04:44:WU01:FS00:Server responded WORK_ACK (400)
17:04:44:WU01:FS00:Final credit estimate, 783.00 points
No problems there, but much to my surprise the WU was credited in the 17:00 (UTC) update run. But only with 783 points, I was expecting 10% more than that :(

The missing points didn't appear in the 18:00 (UTC) update, could the WU have snuck in somehow before the extra percentage was calculated?

For the sake of 70-odd points I'm not too bothered- if they turn up later that's fine, if they don't I won't lose any sleep over them!

You provided no way to make a judgement if that points value was accurate or not. Showing the download time and some frame times would have helped.

What is the basis for your estimated 10% difference?

And since the fah log matches the actual credit, there's no chance of getting additional points.

It is possible that when the stat servers were having their issues recently, the 10% A4 bonus was inadvertently dropped. I'll ask...

Maybe the 10% is now included in the estimate?

P.S. The a4 10% bonus is technically separate from the QRB calculation, and does not require a passkey.

What is the basis for your estimated 10% difference?
You'll see that the previous WU had a credit estimate of 779, the actual credit was 858, ie 10% higher- I can't find it now but this was stated as one of the benefits of using a passkey and has been applied ever since I got one.

It is possible that there is a new issue here. I have sent off a PM to the person responsible.

It's been applied to all the others I've run since those issues (those I've checked, anyway).

Don't think so- the WU was processed on one of my Core2Duo machines- they've been getting WUs with a base credit of 199, estimated mid-700s and earning in the mid-800s for so long it's getting boring... this one sort of stood out!
P.S. The a4 10% bonus is technically separate from the QRB calculation, and does not require a passkey.
OK, in that case I've probably mis-remembered where I read it when I signed up... which would be a good reason for not being able to find it again!

Agreed, there's no hurry.

My currently running WUs aren't due to complete until the wee small hours (in my time zone) anyway.

This is actually unrelated to the stats issues from last week, but we are looking into it.

We found the problem, and have fixed it so that all future WUs will receive the 10% bonus. In fact, the vast majority of WUs were credited correctly. Without evidence that this was a major problem (more than a few WUs) we will not be re-crediting the 10% bonus.

Thanks,
Christian

Not sure if that's the page I saw (I don't remember it saying that "Mac OSX: v7 for OSX is still in testing. For a beta copy...", which would have been of interest as I run OS X) but it says the same thing so thanks.
