Need help with troubleshooting directions

Post by Knish »

I have a question about the stickied "Troubleshooting Bad WUs" post ( viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16526 )
specifically the 2nd post, how do I do steps 3 and 4 of:
Step 1: Stop the F@h Client
Step 2: Delete the Work folder
Step 3: Delete the queue.dat file
Step 4: Change the Machine ID to another unique value
Step 5: Start the F@h Client
thanks

Apologies for the out-dated information (I am working on getting that updated).

Before we jump to dumping a WU, may you please share your log file (viewtopic.php?f=19&t=26036) and your reason for dumping the WU? The reason is that by dumping the WU, it slows the progress of science since most WUs are unique.

Fortunately I just had some strange error where it was in the middle of a download and just stopped after a 30% download. Since I never fully downloaded i don't think I triggered the start of that project. My client wouldn't restart the download no matter how many times I quit the client and the fahcontrol until I deleted the WU folder. I then found that sticky and so was curious what the steps 3 and 4 were about.

That's a known issue where occasionally during download/upload, if it fails, the client can't auto-recover.

Those steps were for the previous version of the client, v6 and the system has changed in V7.
