I don't think this is a problem with the work unit inherently. The deadline provided by FaH for that work unit is my issue. My client states I have 2.95 days to complete the unit, but it estimates 3.75 days to complete it for 31755 base points and 31755 estimated (the speed of my hardware usually sets me at a higher estimated). My hardware is usually pretty fast, and I understand some work units take longer than others. Usually I receive a unit timed for 10 days and I complete it in a couple hours. I have already worked over a day on this work unit, so the program has 13% done to show a more precise estimate based on what it's seen my hardware do, leading me to believe it's not just an estimation error.

What I am confused by is why the deadline is shorter than the capabilities of my hardware after almost two weeks of folding others successfully.

I don't want the work to go to waste: Should I stop folding until the deadline passes and get a new unit, or will I be allowed to fold past the deadline for 0 points?

I am fine with 0 points as long as I'm allowed to contribute, but I do not want to spend three days of power on a unit that, at the very least, won't contribute at all to the project...

https://apps.foldingathome.org/psummary give the deadline (expiration) for this project as 5 days with a 1 day timeout, which would mean that (at the estimate you have) although you would miss the timeout and be on base points it should still be within expiry and potentially be of science value.

Seems a little weird that you client is stating something different to the web pages (although errors do happen, both on web and config settings) … Hopefully someone with ability to check these things will spot your post.

A post of your log inc the top 200 lines with the system configuration and this WU from download to present may help work out what is occurring … viewtopic.php?f=61&t=26036

There's something definitely weird going on. If previous WUs completed within a few hours, this one should not be taking days.

As Neil-B said, can you post your log? This WU, by the way, was reissued after a day ("Preferred Deadline/ Timeout") and was successfully completed by someone else. In terms of science, the WU will not do anything as the simulation has progressed beyond what your WU is doing, although you'll still get the base points if you finish and return it within 5 days of it being issued to you. However, it'd be good to know what's happening rather than waste time on another fresh WU.

I noticed that this would have completed if I didn't have to stop it for ten hours one of the days, but the multi-day work on this is still out of the ordinary. I will be making a new thread for the latest WU that is going to take over 3 days with a 5 day expiry and 15396 points base and estimated. It was picked up early this morning with a timeout tomorrow and expiration on the 11th.

Thank you Neil B and anandhanju. I turned off folding until it expired. I'm fine with the miniscule points on these folds, but seeing it already completed and accepted on that apps.foldingathome.org link... I'm not wasting power on a finished task. If there is something wrong with my hardware, I may stop the GPU entirely in favor of someone with better hardware to do it faster and run it only on my i5 and a new 12 core I got for folding.
