Daylight savings time

Post by P5-133XL »

I just noticed that the times are off by an hour in my Emails from here. I checked my profile for the timezone and it was correct but the Daylight savings button was on. Is there a way to automate the daylight savings rather than forcing a manual change every 6-months?

Not a high priority, but I think it would be an improvement for lots of people.

1) Daylight Time (or "Summer Time") doesn't start the same day around the world so defining all the 1hr offsets turns out to be a rather complicated block of code. Microsoft, themselves, have released a couple of updates almost every year, fixing the code so it works for everybody. The folks who write and maintain phpBB have chosen not to include it in their codebase.

BTW, my CentOS 6.3 minimal updated "tzdata" when I ran "yum -y update". I'm rather ignorant about Linux, so am I right if I assume it was updating the Time Zone data?
