I thought Internet Explorer v8 was only in beta, and had not been released yet!

These forums use a standard production bulletin board called phpBB. I'm sure that if there is a problem with IE8, that near its release, there will be a new version, or a patch, of phpBB that will address the compatibility problems and there may be solution on the IE8 side too. Internet Explorer and PhpBB are just too common on the internet for there to be otherwise.

You want the entire world to adjust to Microsoft's bad coding? Don't we already do that enough? ;)

The policy of phpbb is not to "fix" "bugs" in their code that are identified by beta quality browsers simply because they invariably change between releases. This applies as much to chrome and firefox 3.1 as it does to IE8; if rendering is still broken in the gold releases of these browsers, the code will be fixed, but until then either continue to use compatibility rendering, or use a release quality browser.
