In a single box, how many GPU FahCores do you run? poll

Post by rhavern »

So, the question popped up, in a single box, how many GPU clients do you fold with? The answer is interesting to the software and core developers. If you have more than one GPU box folding, go with your box that has the highest number of GPU clients or slots.

Note I'm asking about the number of FahCores, not GPUs. For example, if you have a GTX590, that currently requires two GPU clients/slots to fully utilize, so answer accordingly. I'm going to run the poll for two weeks.

Many thanks!

P.S. - If you genuinely are running 7+, please leave a comment quickly describing what you are running and how you keep such a beast cool!

I said 4 only because there was a time I tried to fit 4 cards in one mobo without overheating and wasn't successful, currently running only 3 simultaneously
Things yet to materialize.

I answered 1 for now, just upgraded from a 6950 to a 7970. Once the new cores come out I may add a second 7970 if the results are good.

Was that four single-width, a combination of single and double or a really big mobo?

Most I have run is 4 GTX470's in one box. I was going to run 4 GTX690's with a total of 8 cores but sold them due to not enough time to commit to the build.

But I have plans.. oh yes :)

I answered 2, but it is my desire to get a 3 or 4 PCI-e slot motherboard to reduce the electrical overhead of running multiple systems. Would most likely run it as an open system - no case.
